Senior Residential Camp
July
7-11, 2010
Ages 10-18
Resident Fees: $500.00
Commuter Fees $400.00
Our Senior camp is geared toward the
serious soccer player who plays at a competitive level. The goal of the
training you will participate in is to take you to the next level. This
may mean you are getting ready for your high school season, your club season,
or you have the goal of playing Division I college soccer. Whatever goals
you have, our staff will help get you there.
Within each week of Senior camp, our staff will group players based on the
best combination of both age and skill level. We then streamline our training to
focus on the needs of that particular group.
SENIOR GROUPS
Our senior groups are exposed to a high-level curriculum that focuses
on fundamental aspects of the game. These aspects are the technical,
tactical, physical and psychological dimensions of playing soccer. The
training is conducted in an environment that is very challenging, both
physically and psychologically. We also stress the need to understand the
game on a higher tactical level and grasp the concept that competition
within your own team will make you, and your team, better. The college
coaches in attendance will also give you insight into how they train their
own teams at this level.
JUNIOR GROUPS
Our junior groups are also exposed to the same high-level training as our
senior groups. However, we also spend a great deal of time working on the
basics of passing, dribbling, control, heading, shielding, finishing etc.,
and achieving this within the game. There is a focus in our junior groups on
introducing you to certain tactical aspects of the game that may be new to
you. We also work on exposing you to the physical dimension of playing
that is needed to take your game to the next level.
COMMUTER CAMPERS
You can enjoy the residential camp experience as a commuter. The only
difference is that you do not spend the night on campus or eat
breakfast at camp. All other aspects of having fun at camp are included.
TEAM CAMPS
The facilities at UNCW make our Team Camps the ideal place for your team
to be this summer. Where else can you play soccer in the morning and hit
the beach in the afternoon?
Teams will have the opportunity to play and train together. Each team will
have an assigned coach and may be split-up for games/competition. Teams
will stay in adjoining rooms in the dorms to help with the overall
team-bonding experience. Discounts for teams of 10 or more is $15 per
player. There is also a $25 sibling discount. Call Paul Cairney at
910-297-4796 any questions concerning on team camps and discounts. Please note
that we are very flexible to you and your teams’ needs.
SO YOU WANT TO PLAY COLLEGE SOCCER?
During the residential camps, our campers will be exposed to what it takes
to be a college player. Nightly lectures are very informal and will
include: college recruiting, academic preparation for college,
speed/strength conditioning, nutrition and injury prevention. In addition,
our staff will answer any questions you may have about playing at the next
level.
GOALKEEPER TRAINING
We incorporate specialized goalkeeper training into each of our
residential camps. GK’s will train in small groups in the morning sessions
and will be integrated into small-sided games for afternoon sessions. In
addition, each GK will have the chance to play on a team. Our GK staff
follows each player throughout their day and provides feedback at
appropriate intervals. A unique part of our Soccer Academy at UNCW for GK’s is that they get to train at the beach…soft landings!
