Paul Cairney, Camp Director
The head coach of UNC Wilmington’s soccer program is originally from Scotland and has been guiding the Seahawks for 16 seasons. His team is the 2009 CAA Champions. Cairney, who was the 2006 and 2008 CAA Coach-of-the-Year, has
developed a winning tradition at UNCW. As a player he was a four-year standout at UNCW, garnering All-CAA and Academic All-American honors. He holds a USSF “A” License, NSCAA Premier Diploma, and a Scottish FA Coaching badge.

Coaches and Counselors
The Paul Cairney Soccer Academy at UNCW camp staff is comprised of current and former college coaches and players. Our staff has enjoyed working with UNCW summer camps in the past, and we are fortunate to have many of our staff return each summer. Our staff members are committed to educating and challenging players, while having fun.
Each player will receive a written evaluation of her performance during camp. In addition, our staff members stay on campus during each residential camp to provide supervision, support and FUN at all times!

Melissa Barnes, Assistant Camp Director
Aiding Coach Cairney with the operation of the camp is UNCW asst. coach, Melissa Barnes. A standout GK at Furman and then asst. coach for the Paladins, Barnes brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the staff. Barnes, a member of Region III ODP staff, assists with all facets of camp instruction, curriculum and oversees GK training.
